The trolley song

Regarding comments made by Lynne Anderson and Dr Frank Hudman about Woolworths Camden's self-serve checkouts, the potential loss of jobs and the state of the car park [Your Say, July 9].

Self-serve check-outs are the way of the future. I don't like them but neither do I like self-serve petrol.

I had to change.

Last week at Coles at Macarthur Square I was twice charged $9.87.

I had to go back for a refund.

My sister was not charged for one can of tuna at Coles at the Mall. It was on special for 10 for $10, so she paid full price for nine. So manned is not always good. I'm not picking on Coles.

I usually shop at Woolworths Camden and Macarthur Square and similar errors have been made over the years. My point is that we're all human. Check your docket whether the checkout is serviced or not. You could blame them but all seem pretty happy to correct the error.

About the state of the car park, it boils down to the people who use it. Should we not be ashamed about the upbringing of our children and take more responsibility for the problems around us instead of blaming someone for not cleaning up after us?

Are all the trolleys returned to the trolley return bay and how many trolleys have rubbish in them? Yes, Dr Hudman, 26 per cent is one less checkout operator but maybe the spare operator can clean up after us.
