CAMDEN Junior Australian Football Club will be represented at this year's Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) national Australian football championships.
Camden's under-12 player Luke Vella, 11, of Leppington, will head to Melbourne this week, to be one of the 23 NSW PSSA team members.
The year 6 pupil represented Mackillop at the recent NSW Primary Schools Sporting Association State championships in Coffs Harbour.
Although his team lost to the strong Riverina team, Luke made a big impression with his ability and was chosen for the NSW team.
Luke's mother Sandy said her son played ``hard, fast, tough football but is always fair''.
``He just loves getting the football in his hands and running and kicking,'' she said.
``He has had club best and fairest awards for the last three years and two association best and fairest awards.''
Usually playing in the position of ruck rover, centre, or on the wing, Luke attends St Clare's Catholic Primary School.
The tournament's opening ceremony will be conducted during half-time of the Richmond versus Essendon game at Melbourne Cricket Ground on July 19. Luke will be playing against teams from Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, Northern Territory and ACT at grounds in Melbourne.
His favourite players include Sydney Swans' Brett Kirk, Geelong's Luke Ablett and Richmond's Andrew Krakouer who is retired.
