Truck protest to slow F5

22/07/2008 5:07:00 PM
The RTA is warning motorists of possible delays on the Hume Highway tomorrow because of a truck protest.

In a statement issued this afternoon, the RTA said a convoy of trucks was planning to leave the Shell Service Station at Sutton Forest at 6am travelling northbound, and was expected to reach The Crossroads at Casula after 8am.

"The convoy is reportedly planning to travel in one lane between 60kmh and 80kmh to protest against rising fuel costs," the statement said.

"The RTA encourages motorists to delay their trips until after the protest is finished or to allow extra time to reach their destinations."

"The RTA and the NSW Police will monitor traffic on the Hume Highway to ensure the roads are operating safely."

Good on the truckies for protesting! In doing so I believe they will have a better chance at getting a fair go with their wages etc. Because without these hard working men and women, we would not get food on the shelves of our supermarkets. I am all for them protesting for a fair go.
