Dabble in saving animals

21/07/2008 4:00:00 AM
DABS Animal Rescue service is looking for more volunteers to help save the lives of animals on death row at the pound.

DABS (Domestic Animal Birth-control Society) is a registered charity.

Following a recent Advertiser story, the service has recruited five volunteer foster carers for animals, but more are needed.

The charity is also looking for food donations from companies or individuals.

Much of the problem of pet overpopulation and their euthanising is because puppy mills are allowed to operate, and puppies and kittens can be sold without requiring desexing. Band-aid treatment may help save lives, but our legislators should not always bend so far to help businesses and remain compassion-less towards our massive pet disposals.
